PETERDO BY HUY LUONG

Peter Do released these previews of new shoot shot by Huy Luong@highluong and styled by JessicaQu@jessicazwu on his instagram in collaboration with Dylan Cao@dylncao

I think they are perfect.

I love the use of black and white to compliment the black or white garments making them stand out in the photograph. The face is hidden leaving the focus on the clothing.
I think the sharp lines that cut up the photo, garments and model are brilliant.reference

MISSONI AW14 CAMPAIGN

Joan Smalls travels through time and space in this brilliantly futuristic campaign for Missoni AW14

Absract prints and sculptures are set against the contrasting backdrop of an ancient amphitheatre, like a daydreamers vision of time travel in the 70s.

The campaign shot by Vivane Sassen is another strong representation of the brands vibrancy and forward thinking nature and like the collection, take inspiration from the past, present and the future.

URS FISHER

PROBLEM PAINTINGS

The “problem” is that an organic or inorganic object obstructs each visage. Beets, a wrench or a banana — each obstacle is quotidian, but at this size, for some are as large as a pony, they are immediately iconic.
Asked whether the combinations were selected on formal principles alone, Fischer quickly responded in the affirmative. But he also explained that there is a correlation between the thing and the face. Reference

PRABAL GURUNG AW14 CAMPAIGN

INGLORIOUS FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

A campaign for the reduction of food waste ran by intermarche supermarkets.

People are so consumerized to what they believe food should look like that there are tonnes
of fruit and vegetables deemed unsellable due to not meeting specified standards; therefore these go to waste.

Intermarche bought these "unsellable" products and showed the public that these Inglorious fruit and vegetables are more to what meets the eye. They are perfectly useful and tasty plus 30% cheaper.

The campaign ridicules our ideas of perfection calling the fruits "Hideous Orange" and "Grotesque Apple" They try to preach their "inner beauty"

DIGITAL ARTIST – JOHNATHAN PEARSON

“I looked at everyday objects that we use in our life, particularly glue and thread, and transformed them into a means of craft photoshop.” Pearson tells me.

Glue and thread form the foundations of his work, inspired by the surrealist artist Duchamp he takes on an entirely new form of image editing which demonstrates craft skill over digital editing. Johnathan has, for the most part, created a hands on form of image distortion.

Hand stitching effectively outlines editorial images in Pearson’s work. His extreme use of heavy glue also gives me the impression he has purposely distorted some images entirely, almost unidentifiable from their original source.

His interpretation of image editing conveys a message of unobtainable perfection. I especially like the way in which some elements to Pearson’s work are inherently ugly and uneasy on the eye, aiding my understanding that obsession with perfection is, entirely, an unattractive trait rife throughout the editorial world.

CHROMOSATURATION CARLOS CRUZ DIAZ

Chromosaturation (Paris 1965)
These works relate to the idea that in the origin of every culture lies a primary event as a starting point. A simple situation that generates a whole system of thoughts, sensitivity, myths, etc.

The Chromosaturation is an artificial environment composed of three color chambers, one red, one green and one blue that immerse the visitor in a completely monochrome situation. This experience creates disturbances in the retina, accustomed to receive wide range of colors simultaneously. The Chromosaturation can act as a trigger, activating in the viewer the notion of color as a material or physical situation, going into space without the aid of any form or even without any support, regardless of cultural beliefs. INSPIRATION

I will be using this blog to record the inspiration I am collecting that will contribute to my Fashion Design with Communications FMP.

I will refer to photographers, blogs, artists, designers, brands, trends, direction and writers to engage with the industry.

By gathering visuals and exploring exhibitions, films, documentaries, news, cultural patterns, artists studies etc. I hope to dissect information that will stimulate ideas and eventually lead to my final concept.
